I personally don't dislike new things so much as I hate having things I like being taken from me. I played FFXI for 4-5 years, and the Vana'diel I knew is just gone; the people I knew are mostly gone, the seasonal events I used to love are ignored, the crowd of excited newbies I used to be a part of has thinned down to a core of driven endgame players. And with the level cap being constantly bumped upwards, the level 75 character I spent ages grinding is no longer adequate, and I'll have to buy like $30 worth of DLC to get back into the game.

The trouble with online games is that even if the old content is still accessible, no one you know wants to play through it anymore. They've all moved on to the new hotness, whether you like it or not. And while Cataclysm was probably necessary to bring the game up to date, it just made things worse by disappearing a lot of places that people have good memories of. I've played WoW too, and I'm kind of sad about it myself.

I'm sorry, and I hope you feel better soon.
